The Suspenders — an underground, lo-fi rock band from Christchurch, New Zealand, active during the late 1990s .....
Members were Fleur De Lis (Fleur Walden) (Vocals/Guitar), Peter Mitchell (Drums), and Dean Aldridge (Bass)
The Suspenders will be primarily remembered as the foundational musical project for several prominent figures in the local indie and country-folk rock scenes, featuring Christchurch musicians Fleur De Lis (Vocals/Guitar), Peter Mitchell (Drums), and Dean Aldridge (Bass) they gained local traction by producing a series of short-run, extremely lo-fi singles that were played around the Christchurch area. Following their time in The Suspenders, and the trio teamed up with guitarist Rob McLean and bass player Vaughan Watson to form the country-folk rock band The Dialtones. The material they created together eventually culminated in The Dialtones' 2004 debut album, Better Late. The members remained deeply integrated into the alternative music network of the region with Peter Mitchell going on to play drums for other notable indie groups like Squirm and The Renderers, while Fleur De Lis was involved with the local punk-rock act Snort. |
