Emerging in the mid-70s pre-music video boom, the show was initially hosted by Roger Gascoigne and then later by Stu Dennison. It featured bands and dancers live in the studio. |

By the early 80s it had morphed into a seamless video clip Top 20 countdown. It then evolved into a brand and was re-titled RTR Countdown, and spawned multiple RTR offshoots (Mega-Mix, Sounz and New Releases), before disappearing into oblivion in the mid-1990s. |
