The Miss Surf City Contest was a gala event which was held at the Pleasant Point Domain – the home of Surf City. Shortly after Johnny Campbell and The Detours had departed for the bright lights of the city and The Laredo Nitespot, the coveted Miss Surf City title was taken out by Petronella (Elly) Hijgemann, who was subsequently to become the wife of Myles Johnson, the designer and producer of the original Detours' Surf City T-shirts |
