The Kor-Tels

Timaru's Kor-Tels, who had appeared with Dinah Lee, competed in the Big Beat Dance Band Contest held in February 1965 in Canterbury Court, Christchurch.

At that point the line-up of the group was Noel Taylor (Drums) (Leader), Ron Jenkins (Lead Guitar), Errol James (Rhythm Guitar), Noel Day (Bass), Garth Taylor (Univox) and Mike Luxford (Vocals).   The group placed 4th out of six finalists.  The contest was won by The Chants R&B, with Peter, Paul and The Pursuers second, and another Timaru group Beat Unlimited in third place.
