Kian Eriksson - lead guitarist for The Merseys (Invercargill)
This musician is a mere 15 years of age and he hails from Invercargill, Southland. It has been said that Kian could do it all - he was a bass player, a lead and rhythm guitarist, a drummer and a vocalist. Many people comment on his stage presence and how he presents himself. Every gig to him means to be tidy and to entertain the audience. Kian loves playing 50s and 60s Rock 'n' Roll which is something most people his age don't play. "Rock 'n' Roll was the thing that got everyone, and I mean everyone up dancing on their feet", Kian stated. Kian’s main gigs were places like the The Southland Musicians Club, The Invercargill Workingmens Club, and he has done many private and corporate gigs.
Kian is in a band called The Merseys a band that is dedicated to old school music and the famous Mersey Beat, straight out of Liverpool. When it comes to idols and inspirations, Kian idolises The Swinging Blue Jeans and The Beatles, he also idolises a fallen Southland musician called Paul Browning. |
