The group's name was gleaned from their Sunday night residency at The Kashmir Lounge (upstairs next to 3ZB in Colombo Street, Christchurch.  The Kashmir Lounge was owned by Lindsay Grey, who subsequently sold out and purchased Renown Caterers in Warrington Street (circa 1966).
