Top New Zealand artists, Suzanne Lynch and Graham Wardrop headlined the inaugural Flaxwood Festival (originally called Flaxton Festival - the name was changed in perpetual honour of Murray Wood, the Festival's inaugural musical director, who tragically lost his life in the CTV Building in central Christchurch, as a result of the February 22nd, 2011 earthquake).  Suzanne and Graham were backed by The Flaxwood Shadows (a hand-picked group especially assembled for the festival).  The Flaxwood Shadows also performed a solo set featuring mainly tunes from The Shadows' songbook.
