The Phantoms
Don Hickman (Bass Guitar), Andy Joines (Guitar), Brian Vaughan (Drums), Alan Johansson (Guitar)
Stuart Leischman later replaced Don Hickman on bass guitar

Concentrating on their own individual style, this experienced group was formed circa 1963, and among other regular engagements they featured at The Pacific Dance Centre.  Lead guitarist and vocalist, Andy Joines headed the five, and the other members were Alan Johnansson (Rhythm Guitar), Stewart Leishman (Bass Guitar), Brian Vaughan (Drums) and Peter Smith (Vocals).  All the boys helped out with vocal backings, and they composed and played their own numbers, some of which they recorded.  While not endeavouring to become full-time entertainers, they intended to keep on appearing in the City and enjoying the pleasure of playing together.  The group competed in the Big Beat Dance Band Contest of 1965, but were unsuccessful in their attempt to win the contest.
