The Feelers  —  Christchurch
Matt Thomas (Bass), Hamish Gee (Drums) and James Reid (Vocals/Guitar)

The Feelers arose out of Christchurch in the 1990s and attacked the music charts with catchy, slick rocky hits.  They sold over a quarter of a million discs over five multi-platinum albums with a creditable seven #1 singles, thus setting themselves up as a serious presence on the local rock scene.  For an extended period, The Feelers provided a commentary soundtrack to Kiwi life and their career maps the course of local commercially-produced music around the dawn of the new millennium.  Members at various times included - James Reid (Vocals/Guitar), Hamish Gee (Drums), Matt Thomas (Bass Guitar), Andy Lynch (Guitar) and Matt Short (Bass Guitar).  Tim Skedden had played guitar with The Feelers during their early years and continued to fill in for live shows until Andy Lynch joined the group.  Skedden was also a founding member of Opshop, but he left that group just prior to them gaining mainstream success.  In June 2018, to mark their 25th anniversary, The Feelers embarked on a nationwide tour of New Zealand.
