Cash Kazmierczak  —  drummer for The Sinners, Daly Bred, Abbey Lane, Soul Agents, Opposition and Tangerine

Tadeusz Wladyslaw Kazmierczak (Cash) was born in Germany in 1945 to Polish parents and spent his early years living at Camp Unttermberg, Germany.  In 1951 Tadeusz (Ted) and his family sailed to New Zealand on the refuge ship SS Goya.  Home became the displaced persons camp at Pahitua.  Eventually the family all settled in Palmerston North where Ted attended Marist Brothers' High School.  In 1966 he joined the band The Sinners in Palmerston North with Billy Te Kahika (Billy TK of Human Instinct), Sonny Ratana, Harold Hines, and they played for a number of years in the Manawatu.  The two pix below were taken in Palmerston North .....

In the early '70s Cash, as he was now known, lived in Christchurch.  He joined Daly Bred as drummer with Paul Talbot (Guitar/Vocals), Dave Dowling (Organ) and they played at the Aranui Hotel.  They were later to take up residency at the Zetland Hotel, then featuring Paul Talbot (Guitar/Vocals,) Cash (Drums) and Mike O’Dowd (Organ) - Mike had replaced Dave Dowling.  Towards the end of the '70s, Cash joined Abbey Lane with Monty Monteath (Guitar/Vocals) and Russell Curtis (Bass/Vocals).  He was also part of the original line up of Soul Agents with "Super" Cyril Edwards, Mike Lewis (who was replaced by Larry McKay), Trevor Wright (who had replaced Don Clarkson) and Ray Ballantyne.  Cash, like many other musicians, moved around between other bands and he did spend a short time drumming with Pete Hansen's Opposition at The Hornby Trust.

By the mid '90s Cash was drumming and singing for Tangerine with bandmates Tony (Buzz) Burrell (Saxophone), Allan Irvine (Bass) and Judy Cooper (Organ).  Forever the showman, Cash passed away on October 5th, 1996.
