Bob D. Five - early 1960s
The Bob D. Five consisted of ... Billy Belton, Bobby Davis and Dave Brown

Robert "Bobby" Davis was born on July 21st, 1942 in Yorkshire, England.  He emigrated to New Zealand in 1959 and based himself in Christchurch, where he sang for a couple of years, recording on the "Peak" label with his group the Dazzlers.  He moved to Auckland in 1963 and emerged with a band called The Wanderers who recorded Z45/1160 "Short Fat Horrie (Long Tall Texan)"/"No Vacancy" in 1964 on the Zodiac label.  The Wanderers then became The Bob D. Five, and they recorded the single Z45/1193 "High School Confidential"/"I Go Ape" in 1964 - again for Zodiac.  Bobby disbanded the group after that, and from 1965 to 1969 he released six more singles in his own right.  Bobby was on the six week whistle-stop C'Mon '67 Tour throughout New Zealand.
